Crossing into the Electric Magnetic (2024) sound workshop residency
Crossing into the Electric Magnetic was a 10 day workshop residency in experimental electronic music practice which took place at the AqTushetii Artist Residency Centre, Omalo, Republic of Georgia. During the residency participants spent time collectively tuning into the natural and folk rhythms of this remote part of Georgia. Through shared meditation and deep listening sessions, talks, lectures and practical workshops in analogue and digital recording mediums, the artists produced sound works displayed at the end of the residency. These were created through field recordings, travelling to nearby sites and local festivals. Jamie's work Tusheti Loops responded to the natural rhythms of the remote landscape as well as its socio-political context of the region, its cultural heritage and folk traditions.
Jamie's part on this residency was made possible by a WEVAA artist bursary, supported by Arts Council England.
